The Dandelion Sphere was conceived by TERTIUS COLLECTION in Amsterdam as a way of preserving one of nature’s most fleeting and familiar moments.
At the heart of every sphere is a real dandelion seed head, held at the extraordinary point when hundreds of individual seeds come together in an almost perfect sphere - just before the wind carries them away.
No two dandelions are identical. Each has its own form, structure and character, making every Dandelion Sphere naturally unique.
But the Dandelion Sphere is about more than preserving something beautiful. For generations, the dandelion has been connected with one simple ritual: close your eyes, make a wish and blow.
That is what lies at the heart of Taraxacum Orbis - the idea of giving permanence to something that would otherwise exist for only a moment.

Transformation
The dandelion is constantly changing. It begins as a small bud, opens into its familiar golden flower and then quietly transforms into something completely different - a delicate sphere made from hundreds of individual seeds. Its most beautiful moment is also its most fragile. Soon, the slightest breath of wind will change it forever. The Dandelion Sphere captures that extraordinary point between becoming and letting go.
The Story behind the Dandelion Sphere
Tertius Xavier van Oosthuyzen - Founder, TERTIUS COLLECTION: 'I grew up in South Africa, where dandelions fascinated me as a child. Finding one that had reached that perfect, fragile sphere of seeds always felt a little magical. You knew exactly what to do. Close your eyes. Make a wish. And blow. Seconds later, it was gone. Years later, that childhood memory returned to me. I found myself thinking about that tiny moment between the dandelion becoming complete and the wind taking it apart. What if that moment could be kept? That question became the beginning of Dandelion Sphere. For me, it is still about that childhood sense of wonder - and the simple belief that some wishes, memories and moments deserve to stay with us a little longer.'
From South Africa to Amsterdam
The idea was born from a childhood memory in South Africa. Many years and many journeys later, Taraxacum Orbis found its home in Amsterdam - the city from which each Dandelion Sphere begins its journey to its new owner. Every sphere is individually selected and presented as an object to keep, to give and, perhaps one day, to pass on. Born from a memory in South Africa. Sent into the world from Amsterdam. A Fleeting Moment, Held Forever.
